Weaving & Woodwork
Exhibition graphics for Weaving & Woodwork: A Scandinavian Design Partnership.
A Scandinavian Partnership
This exhibit celebrates the long and distinguished careers of UC Davis design professor emeritus Helge Olsen and his wife Birgitta Olsen. The featured work, Helge’s wood furniture design and Birgitta’s woven wall tapestries, reflects their Scandinavian upbringing, training and design aesthetic.
Tactile Textures
Through the hand-crafted everyday objects, the exhibition emphasized textures. In conjunction with Zoe Martin’s Undergraduate Honors Project, Weaving & Woodwork experimented with ways to make museum spaces more accessible by including braille maps and interactive experiences.
For the exhibition poster, the Olsens’ work was displayed simply with an emphasis on various textures.
Along with the poster, I created textured lettering for the introduction wall. The letters were laser cut from plywood and then wrapped with fabric that Birgitta donated to the Design Department.
